Hi
I recently upgrade my vehicle to a BT-50.
One of the cool things it allows me to do is mirror my phone to the head unit. So I though instead of mounting my android where I could view Oziexplorer, I could mirror link to the head unit.
Worked well while the car was stationary but as soon as I started moving the head unit decided Oziexplorer was a video and ceased allowing me to view the maps.
Has anyone else tried to do this, and if so, have you found away around this issue?
Cheers
Daryl

I assume you realise that Exploroz ( this website) , and Oziexplorer are two different things altogether ?

Cheers

Very much aware that they are different entities.
I suspect my question would be applicable to any moving map program.
The point of the question is more about whether anyone using a moving map program (oziexplores, oxplorer traveler ect ect ) has tried to mirror link to the head unit, did they have the same issue and has anyone found a way around the issue

Hi Daryl

There was chat the other day on the Isuzu Facebook page where someone asked a similar question regarding and IPhone and Apple Car Play.

I can not think of the program, but one guy got a phone hack through the app stone and now any app that is on his iPhone now works on his head unit, even plays DVD’s while driving.

He also had a scan gauge app on his hone and by buying the app through car play he can monitor a number of things that show up as gauges on the head unit, eg oil temperature, volts produced the the alternator, all temperatures from engine, transmission etc.

Hi Daryl and Alby

It’s hopeless trying to find the post of the Isuzu page, there are hundreds of them.

Tried doing a search then remembered it was called Jailbreak.

Basically you must have a PC or Mac computer that you use first to download the tool first.
This is some basic information link.

There are lots of videos on YouTube

Jailbreak is the 'program' used by iOS users to get around Apple's walled garden of security features. The Android equivalent is to 'Root' the device and load a custom version/derivative of Android. Voids the warranty of course and you have to manually apply updates. Probably not to be used unless you are or want to become an expert in the workings of the operating system.

Had a look at the Android version. Haven't got the expertise to go down that path

Hi Daryl
There will be a wire that goes from the head unit to the handbrake switch to stop you playing videos while you are driving. Im pretty sure if you take this wire off the handbrake switch and earth it should work. {dont get caught playing movies while driving illegal}.
Cheers Matt.

Are you sure about that ?

A quick test to confirm if it is the handbrake preventing movies would be to park the vehicle so it is not moving and then if the handbrake is off it would prevent any video from playing and engaging the handbrake would allow video to play.

On some other units it is a signal from the speedometer which prevents certain action if the vehicle is moving.

It is handbrake controlled.
Checked this morning. Handbrake on - all good. Handbrake off - no moving maps/video allowed.
Suspect removing wire might create some warranty issues

If it is a simple push on connector you could possibly fit a switch on a wire that is loose under the dash. It could then just be put back to standard. Might be simpler in the end just to use a stand alone tablet.

It means that the file type, usually the 3 letter extension after the file name is classified as video by the operating system. I wonder if there's a setting on there to reclassify that extension as a document instead of a video? Just a thought...

As it is handbrake activated...try...just raising the hand brake one or two notches ( will not activate handbrake ) you should find the solution..

Works in my 2017 bt50..

Has taken a while but have found a solution for android devices
I found a app called "Android Auto Apps Downloader (AAAD)".
Once you download and install AAAD you are able to access a number of apps that are not otherwise available.
One of these apps is "Screen2Auto". When it is installed it becomes embedded in Android auto.
When the android device is connected to car "android auto" opens and "Screen2Auto" appears as an app.
Opening the app allows access to all the apps on the android device and to mirror screen within in "Android auto" and best of all moving maps such as ExploreOz now works.

Am still playing with settings as there are a couple of querky things

Interesting!! I just did 15 mins of research on this and I think you're right... Very clever indeed. So let me get this right Daryl - you downloaded AAAD from GitHub? I couldn't find it in Google Play or have you found AAAD available to download somewhere else?
Once I get the steps to this sorted, we can add it to our documentation as this will help some people who are struggling to find a solution with their existing headunits.

Hi David
From memory I think I downloaded from Softonic (https://aaad.en.softonic.com/android), but the download site probably doesn't matter.
The android device needs to be able to support Android Auto - I'm having to use my phone not my pad which is too old.
Once AAAD is downloaded the Screen2Auto app can be downloaded. My limited understanding is that because the Screen2Auto becomes embedded in Android Auto it by passes the issue with moving maps being perceived as a video.
I am still finding that when I open Screen2Auto in the car that it is a bit clumsy but I think that is due to setting on my phone within the app and not spending enough time to work them out.
Once I work around them the moving maps work as they should.
Cheers
