Hello good people
Im planning on a a couple of nights camping At Coxs River
Campground on the Six-Foot Track but can find no detailed information on how to ge there online.
Google maps is taking me via the Megalonbg Valley which I read somewhere is not the right way. Coming from the west google maps takes you onot the 6 foot track - but isnt that a walking track? Can you drive on it?
The other key question I have is how far from the
campsite can you park? This will determine what I do and dont bring.
Thanks to anyone who can help

Yes, it goes through the Megalong Valley. I also suggest you stay clear of that area and down towards the
Jenolan Caves until things dry out a lot in the area. The road to
Jenolan Caves has been out of action as a result of slippages following heavy rain for quite some time. The road into Megalong Valley was cut off following a land slip after the rain on Friday - see
Hundreds still cut-off at Megalong Valley (scroll down to that heading.)

You can't get to the Coxs
River campsite by car from the Megalong Valley but you can walk down the Six Foot Track from that side.

What are you searching for on Google Maps? When I search for "Coxs River, Ganbenang NSW 2790" it goes to the place I remember the
campsite at on the western side of the river.
You don't get there via Megalong Valley so you must have the wrong spot - you turn off at Little Hartley, just past the Lolly Bug store if you're coming from
Sydney.

Sorry, haven't been there for 35+ years. From what I've read you have to carry camping gear a bit but I don't think it's "bushwalk" type distances, more just not right next to the car

The 6 foot track is a 4wd access track that walkers use. You can not however traverse the whole track as east of the Cox is walking single track only. I have turned towards Jenolan and accessed the 6 foot from there, and followed it to the Cox river.
Camp grounds you can drive to, they may not allow access in them but to them for sure. (copper log type barriers) Lovely place, 3
camp grounds at least along the track.
On my way out i got lost and ended up coming out at the base of Victoria Pass.

As was said earlier, you turn off at the lolly bug into Cox's River Rd. Follow that and
fork left into Cullenbenbong Rd and go past Kanimbla Community Hall. You go up a
hill and you're confronted with what seems like a dead end and 3 gates. The middle
gate says 6 foot track with an arrow or something similar. You used to have to go through about 3 gates to get to that spot but the last time I went the road was smoother and the gates were all open. Follow that down until it hits the actual 6 foot track and turn left. There's another
gate there. Follow that down to the
campground. Take the walk to Bowtell's Swing
Bridge about a kilometre or 2. Drive out along the full 6 foot track and hit the
Jenolan Caves Rd a way past
Hampton and the
Oberon turn off. Watch out if it's been raining because you cross quite a few creeks.

I forgot to mention that the
campsite is now surrounded by bollards and the road that you could drive in and around the river bank is gated. You have to park your car in the quite small
carpark and carry your stuff a small distance.

The
campground is right next to the car park so are the
toilets. There's fairly roomy area of grass to use and it's not regimented into areas. It's an interesting 30 minute walk up and down steps along the river to the
bridge. I think that's worth the effort. Very scenic.
