A common sight in sandy hollows, on limestone, saltlakes and clay flood plains, as well as in coastal areas. Disphyma has rounded leaves that root at the nodes, and the flowers are held above the fleshy foliage on relatively long stems. Under hot, dry conditions the leaves turn from green to red.<br />
