This little perennial herb can be either prostrate or ascending and may form loose mats. It has angular stems that are variously hairy or glabrous.

Leaves are usually recurved, narrow-lanceolate, 5–10 mm long, and about 2 mm wide at base. The apex of the sessile leaf is quite sharp/pungent while the margins are ciliate.

White flowers are terminal or in the upper axils; pedicels 5–30 mm long. Sepals 5–9 mm long. Petals are deeply bifid(divided into 2 lobes), and about as long as the sepals. There are 10 stamens.

Common in shaded gullies and damp places.
