Small erect or diffuse shrub to 40 cm high; branches glabrous except for pubescent new growth. Leaves clustered, narrow-linear, 4–6 mm long, to 0.5 mm wide, margins incurved, softly pubescent to glabrous. Flowers axillary, sessile. Sepals 4–6 mm long, glabrous. Petals 7–9 mm long. Stamens 8–12, usually completely surrounding carpels. Carpels 3, glabrous.

This common species is found in woodlands and forests, and even persists in cleared areas. It is a small shrub growing to about 30cm high. The leaves are wider towards the tip than near the base and the bright yellow flowers have a shallow notch in each of the five yellow petals.There are many stamens.

A small twiggy shrub to around 30cm in height. It has narrow, fine green leaves with a sharp tip. The flowers are bright yellow and flower durning winter and spring and can be found in the wetter areas of the Northern Agricultural Ditricts of South Australia.
