Hi,
When off road and you’ve got the tracker on and your family can log in to watch your travels do you need to have cellphone signal or does it just send the gps back to ExplorOz and when your grandkids log in under my log in they are able to see where we are.
Thanks Geoff

Probably depends on the tracker. My Spot 2 sends location back to base via satellite.

I was talking about the
ExplorOz tracker app I should have been more clear.

GW
Tracking is live when in phone range, when out of phone range it continues to track you, but only updates the next time you have signal. When it updates the Grandies will see your entire travels.

Thanks Trevor so I’ll need to do some prep work I’ll either need to hotspot from phone or install a sim into iPad.

One option which I think is recommended, is to have the EOTracker app running on your phone independently of the device that you are running EO Traveller for your maps. That way you don't have to worry about hotspotting.
While I know that you can use SPOT tracking, the manual indicates that other trackers will work as
well. I haven't been able to find any documentation on setting this up. I have been looking at purchasing a Zoleo to replace my now defunct Thuraya satphone and might use the tracking available with that. One caveat is that on the basic Zoleo plan you only get a position uploaded every 10 minutes whereas it is much more frequent using a phone gps and EOT. SPOT I think is more frequent.

Thanks Warren, I’ll see if I can do just that. I do have a gps on my camper but again it relays on phone coverage even though it will track all the time you just done see it until it gets back into coverage. Because we are going in areas without a coverage at all this might have to do.
Thanks again

Spot has variable position times. Think it starts at 1 min, then 2.5, 5, 10, 20 & 30 min?
Have
mine set at either 5 or 10 min. The track gets a bit “clogged” when travelling slowly, with the shorter intervals.

I'd have to say Spot is the best out there
