Is dementia setting in?

As the forum, pushes down the thread after a few days, in the last thread I wrote, RMD mentioned that he had two radios, and had to look for them or something like that and would get back to me, so I thought maybe he forgot, so I bumped an new thread and left a message for him.

But posting in the old thread will bring it back to the top if that is your settings as it is for most people.

Dont start a new thread when there is a perfectly good one running.

You can still buy them new, still a few manufacturers making AM & SSB models. They are really good if you like talking to yourself. It's hard to find any one local on although skip is good at the moment. Michael

The changeover date was around 1993 or 4. There was a big change around in how all radio services are licensed around that period. Prior to that, each transmitter had to be individually licensed. From that time on, the two way radio systems had a licence for the base station and all the mobile radios on that system were operated with permission from the station licensee. The mobile radios did not need an individual licence certificate.

Spectrum licensing was introduced, where bands of radio spectrum are issued to operate under that spectrum licence for a specified time period. This is how the mobile telephone systems are licensed.

Likewise, services like CBRS and some marine services now no longer require individual licences. However, the CBRS still operates under a licence, it is called a class licence. You no longer require an individual licence. The Spectrum Manager (the boss of radio licensing) holds the licence. Anyone with an approved CB radio has permission to operate on the CBRS. - HOWEVER, if you modify your radio so it no longer conforms to the standard, you are no longer licensed to operate on the CBRS and you are liable to be prosecuted for operating an unlicensed transmitter, which can result in a holiday of up to 2 years.
