Track report for the above road travelled west to east twice in the last 3 months.
Currently listed as "Open to 4WD vehicles under 3 tonne only (no towing)". I cant see this changing until the road is repaired.

We have done this road twice this year and it hasn't really improved. The early sections are very corrugated but the road condition worsens when you start the dunes A lot of the dunes have had erosion in the clay capping with some of these being quite wide running top to bottom. These can be a real surprise as one side of the dune can look undamaged. Now in the last few few months some of this erosion has started to fill as vehicles have hit them but on one of the western dunes, the east side capping has come away and left some significant holes.

Worded to allow local station vehicles and lightly loaded oil and gas vehicles to proceed and to keep heavy tourist vehicles out.
Cheers,

Yep, we did that recently and some of the deep washouts extend laterally on the downside of the dunes; can catch you by surprise

Just got back from another trip across from Merty. Turns out Bollards were given a 10 day work authority which has cleaned up some but it is already starting to come apart on the bit in the above photo. There has also been some grader work done just east of Merty but all seems to be a bandaid fix. Even the Strez was only getting a quick going over with two graders. Didn't see rollers or water trucks.
