Australia Wide At this time of year there are few short term / immediate closures. However, when planning ahead one can take into account those closures which run for an extended period. Currently these are; SA Simpson Desert Reserves and Witjira National Park The Simpson Desert Conservation Park, Regional Reserve, and Warburton Crossing are closed until 15th March 2014. Access to Dalhousie Springs is still open from Mt Dare & Oodnadatta. Woomera Prohibited Area Woomera Prohibited Area exclusion periods continue to be in force for the 2013 -14 financial year. This includes areas of the Stuart Highway and Anne Beadell Highway. The Western Explorer - Stanley to Strahn The road is closed due to a very large landslip between Corinna and Smithton. When heading north from Zeehan and cross the Pieman river, the way out is to go back through Savage River to Waratah. The closure is expected to continue throughout the summer until March 2014. VIC / SA Border Border Track The Border Track in Ngarkat Conservation Park is closed during the fire season until 1st April, 2014. N.B. When open, access to the track is restricted to one way – north to south. NT / WA North Austalia With the onset of the wet season, various tracks and national parks in the North of Australia are closed until 1st May 2014. QLD Rockhampton to Mount Morgan The Burnett Highway between Mount Morgan and Rockhampton is closed to all vehicles due to road damage caused by a rock slide between Bouldercombe and Mount Morgan. The alternate route to Mt Morgan via the Burnett Highway is along Poison Creek Road and Razorback Road. This is signed accordingly. CREB Track (Wajul Wajul to Daintree) This track was closed on 25th November 2013 due to wet conditions. Currently a re- opening date has not been scheduled. Cooloola Way, Kin Kin to Rainbow Beach
The Local Council have advised that this track is closed indefinitely whilst awaiting future finance for upgrades and rehabilitation. |
