Back in 1996 , I took a bunch of Army folks up the Canning (& across the Simpson). I've done it twice since & a mate & I are now thinking of doing it again next year.
It is such a great trip & so many great things to see & do.
One of the things we did with the Army group was drop half of us off at what I think was Biella Spring & we made our way cross country (walking) back to
our camp at Durba Springs; not a massive walk but a lot of fun I remember.
I'm thinking of doing something similar next year & wondering if there are any better 'walks' to do in that area. eg: start at
Cannings Cairn, or Sunday
Well, or vicinity Killagurra and walk to Durba Springs .. ie are there any particularly interesting gorges/creeklines to walk in near there????
attached
pic just for reference re what I am talking about

I understand that you need specific permission from the Traditional Owners to walk between Biella Spring and Durba Springs, or even to visit Biella Springs, from memory.
Permit
We did spend several pleasant days walking in the Diebel Spring area earlier this year, but could not find the spring. :(
Diebil Hills '24.
The vehicles are just visible in the distance.
