Hi,
help please, I cannot import a .gpx file on an iphone, I'm stuck, any tricks out there?
I can browse to oneDrive, and see the .gpx files, but they are greyed out?
The status of the files are 'downloaded' onto my phone.
If I browse locations from the import file option:
- Same 'greyed out' result if I use iCloud Drive.
- Same result if I use the 'On My iPhone' folder.

Hi C B1,
This would seem like a very technical question, could I suggest you log onto the Help Desk and ask the question there.
Macca.

If that’s the case they should be in your Files folder.

Thanks, but does not help. I can see the files in the native Apple files app, they are greyed out and I cannot open them from within the Traveller app.

A "File Manager" is needed.
Download a File Manager from the App Store and use it to open the .GPX
This inability to open a GPX file should have been sorted a long time ago.

Is this in reference to opening GPX files in The
ExplorOz Traveller app or something else?
Cheers

Thanks, yes, the traveller app.
I can see the files in the native Apple files app.
I can see the files from within the traveller app, but they are greyed out and I cannot open them from within the Traveller app.

Testing update for OzTraveller App:
iPad running IOS v17.6.1 works, it can upload a .gpx file.
iPad running IOS v18.1.1 does not work, .gpx file is greyed out.
iPhone running IOS v18.1.1 does not work, .gpx file is greyed out.
Appears to be an issue with v18.1.1.
Job logged with helpdesk, awaiting resolve.

"I cannot import a .gpx file on an iPhone"
There is a bit of a work around...
1/. The GPX file you want to import, make that GPX file an attachment in a email and address and send it to yourself.
2/. Then open that particular e mail, plus then open the GPX file attachment, you will notice some Apps that will come up that will open the GPX file..one of these should be Traveller App..
Touch the Traveller App..then tap confirm/download and the GPX file should be in the traveller app.
3/. To find that particular GPX file, go into Traveller, touch
the Looking Glass and the GPX file should be in Recent
Treks or Recent
Track Logs, I can't remember which as I have not imported a GPX file for a while.

Thanks for the info, it appears that somehow traveller app is not associated with .gpx files, this change occurred when I upgraded iOS to 18.1. The traveller app is 9.1.4
Can see file, but greyed out
I tried email method, I can see other apps that I can use to open the .gpx, but not the traveller app.
If I click on .gpx file it opens with a txt reader, traveller app is not an option.

I’m wondering if it may be because you’re using One Drive ?
Something worth trying. From the attachment on your email, save it to favourites / downloads (Directly below your One Drive symbol) and see what happens from there.
May also need to dump it from one drive all together.
Edit. Have you cleared your cache & done a reboot. Will clean this up at the very least.

Thank you to everyone for providing valuable insights in response to this post. I’ve reviewed the files provided in the support request, and I can successfully import them in iOS 18.1 using both the in-app file import option and the “Open/Share” feature from the Files app. There are no issues with the app or the GPX files themselves.
It seems the problem may be related to permissions, and I’ve informed the customer of this through the Help Desk. Additionally, it’s possible the file wasn’t actually downloaded to the Files app on their iPhone, which would prevent direct access. We’ve already communicated this possibility to the customer via the Help Desk as
well.
Lastly, there was a previous comment in this thread suggesting that GPX imports should have been fixed long ago. I’d like to confirm that GPX import functionality has been working correctly since it was first developed.

Been importing various GPX files to
Exploroz Traveller app for a few years now & it works just fine. Even has all the points named as I originally named them on another device.
Can't fault it. Android system though.

Yes, 18.1.1. Works on older iOS, not new one.

C B1,
The testing I referred to was all done with iOS18.1.1 and there was no problem importing with either method on an iPhone14.

Thanks David, I accept that it works for you, and I have replicated the fault on two of my devices. I can only guess that the Traveller application has lost association with .gpx files, and it must be specific to my two devices or the apps installed on them. One of the devices only failed when it upgraded to 18.1.1. Can we please process a refund as I cannot use it?
Regards.

G'day C B1,
I know the Apple vs Android is a bit like the Ford vs Holden thing but I scrapped both my Apple devices some years ago as I got sick to death of compatibility issues when upgrading the OS on Apple devices.
Since going to Android I never experience issues any more & I can plug my Android devices straight into my Windows PC. Best move I ever made.
Cheers
