For those who might be interested

Aussie Daniel Sanders aka "Chucky" has been leading the Dakar since day one in the Rally GP bike class and with two stages to go has a sixteen and a half minute lead ! He's also had five stage wins - incredible performance from the 30 year old !

Another Aussie, Toby Hederics is currently 9th in the Rally 2 bike class and 19th overall - not bad for his first Dakar !!

GO BOYS !!!

Yes and as usual not a mention in any news/sport reports on the news.
The same happened when Toby price won the entire event, twice. I sent emails to the major news outlets and got "no one is interested" replies.
Yet we get reports of some obscure soccer match in far away lands.
Apparently no one at the sports desks is interested
Go chucky

Mark

It's obvious !

People that live boring mundane unexciting lives with little or no motivation to do anything would prefer to watch things like Married at First Sight or I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here than watch the toughest motor race in the world ! ( more $$$$ for the tv stations with that staged crap )

I understand everyone is different but I'm sure glad I'm not one of the above !

Cheers

Totally agree Mark,

There wasn’t even a mention of Toby Price and his Co-Driver Sam Sunderland when they had to withdraw from this years race owing to an injury sustained by Sam Sunderland. I have been watching the nightly coverage from SBS, and I also have the Dakar app on my phone which posts regular updates.

I twice went to the Finke desert race to watch them close up. The top contenders all drive/ride extremely fast. Toby was the first to arrive in his truck and I kid you not, you could hear them several kms away before they came into view.

Could not agree more, nowhere near enough recognition for an extremely tough race. Any wonder why I don’t and many others don’t watch tv.
GO BOYS.

Thanks Graeme but my point was that there is absolutely no mention of the hardest race in the world on any news broadcast but overseas sports like tour de france etc get a run daily. Those in the know watch sbs and the other streaming services to get info.

Daniel Sanders dropped some time but still leads overall by nine minutes.

Final stage tonight which is only 61 k's so very hard for the Spaniard Tosha Schareina to reel Daniel in unless there is some sort of unforeseen circumstance - let's hope not !

Toby Hederics still going along nicely, 9th in the Rally2 and 19th overall.

And some nice riding by the only female in this years Dakar Sandra Gomez Cantero who is 43rd overall out of the 80 riders still competing from the 134 starting list
