I have just installed the ranking system into the photo comps
blogs and thought I had better document how the ranking system works to avoid any confusion and argument.
The ranking had to take into account photos that had a higher number of votes than others that may have scored a higher base rating. To cut a long story short the formula used is as follows:
Rank = 100 * Overall Rating + 25 * Number of Votes
To see the ratings and number of votes you just hover your mouse over the stars and the current scores will be shown.
So what does this mean to the photo comp now. If you have a look at the
Photo Comp in Photo View Mode you will see the results in rank order. This has given us a short list to work with and photos that do not qualify (due to being off the specified theme) will be removed leaving the judges to choose the final picture from
the pool.
