Thursday 27th July
Port Hedland W.A.

A big day on the tools first draining the old tank and then removing the damaged unit and replacing it with the new one. Johno, being the tradie and expert (sparkie that is), spent a fair bit of time under the vehicle. Things went pretty well considering our status as novice mechanics and we were done by the early afternoon, the both of us grubby and tired. We headed to the supermarket in the afternoon to stock up on essential items like scotch, biscuits and cheese intending a pre-dawn start in the morning to get us back on track and into the vicinity of Rudall River.

trip would doubtless be attended with much hardship.''
