Dear ExplorOz.com site user,

The outback travel season has well and truly arrived. From all reports, the deserts and outback areas are receiving an influx of visitors and comes at just the right time as the Simpson Desert reopens and dries out. The ExplorOz team have been busy too...here's the latest!

New stuff to check out:

Trek Notes
Grampians trekNew to the treks is the Grampians National Park, west of Melbourne and an excellent weekend or week getaway. Popular for climbing, walking and 4WDing, its great for Winter and Spring when the wild flowers come alive.
Moreton IslandAn excellent weekender less than 30kms from Brisbane. Moreton Island is a 4WDers dream and is a great city escape. Beach driving, fantastic scenery, swimming (salt and fresh water) and walking are just some of the island's many attractions.
ExplorOz Team
Travel DiaryMichelle & David are currently on an outback adventure sourcing more treks and road testing the ExplorOz vehicle. Travelling up the Gunbarrel into Alice Springs, along the Tanami and Gibb River Road - catch the latest on road conditions and arm chair adventure!
Road Conditions
Latest ReportGood news on the roads. Conditions are drying out and the wildflowers are starting to bloom. Its still rough and slow in the Simpson area, but passable with care.
Shop
Outback WANew to the shop are 2 publications from Western Desert Guides. "The Canning Stock Route - A Traveller's Guide" ($44) and "Blue Peaks and Red Ridges" ($36.30) are the ultimate for outback WA. History buffs, armchair travellers and 4wd enthusiasts will not put these down. In a word...excellent!
