New Article - Inverters Have you ever wondered how some people can go camping
in the bush for weeks on end without ever connecting to 240v mains power
supply yet somehow manage to never run down their camera batteries,
laptop batteries, and can even operate a kitchen wizz, or coffee
grinder? For modern-day travellers, the inverter has earned
its pride of place as a necessary device. Correctly installed into your
vehicle, an inverter will allow you to use many common
appliances/tools/gadgets that would normally require 240v power, via the
12v DC in your under-bonnet battery. But there's more too it, of course.

New Trek Note
TheDavid Carnegie Roadis a remote desert track of little more than 200km that runs
roughly north-south between the Gunbarrel Highway
and Great Central Roadin Western Australia.
John Forrest travelled through this area on his 1874
expedition to be the first to cross WA from the west to east in
these latitudes. The road was
then named after explorer David Carnegie, who travelled through this
area in 1896, on his epic trip from Coolgardie to Halls Creek.
Today the track is well defined and easy to follow, although a
lack of maintenance has left much of it at the northern end in
poor condition, whilst the
southern end from Empress Spring south is often graded to allow
tourist access from the Great Central Road. | It is a spectacular piece of country with rocky outcrops,
spinifex plains and breakaways and in parts challenging 4WDing
with deep ruts and washaways. Click here to

Where is "Pick this Place?"
Due to the extensive administration for the Pick this Place
competition, we have been unable to keep up with demand in recent
weeks with this highly popular site feature. We can confirm however,
that the "Pick this Place" competition will return again soon
(however not 'til end July - early August) and will include a new
system for competition submissions. So in the meantime, please start
preparing for the next stage of Pick this Place!
