Dear ExplorOz Reader, |
Welcome to another edition of our fortnightly newsletter. Summer is fast approaching and the outback is preparing for
another hot and dry season. Give a thought to our hard working farmers and the harsh conditions they are currently
facing with drought. They do a fine job and we really need some rain to get them through.
This edition brings a new article inspired by the approaching summer called Outback Phenomenon.
We have also brought in some brand new products, so check them out and enjoy the read.

We explore two natural occurrences you may come across during your travels
in the outback. Willy willies which are also known as “dust devils” are quite an amazing phenomenon. They range in size from a couple
of metres off the ground to hundreds of metres high. We talk about what they are and how they occur. Mirages are
something most people have witnessed, especially when driving on bitumen
roads during a very hot summer day. We discuss how mirages are formed
and the main types of mirages there are.Click here for the article ExplorOz Website Improvements As mentioned in our previous newsletter, we have been working hard
to introduce our brand new site layout. Since then, we have had a fantastic response in regards to the look and feel,
the colours, the efficient use of white space and the general user experience. Since the launch, we have been inundated
with user feedback. The team at ExplorOz are especially appreciative of
your invaluable feedback because your comments are helping towards improving the site for everybody.
This feedback has helped us finish some new developments and they include:Support for 800 x 600 Resolution – Since purchases have
increased quite considerably for bigger computer screens, more people are switching over to the higher resolutions
that suit them. Statistics have shown that around 54% of people were using 800 x 600 in 2001. That number unfortunately
has dwindled down to around 16% in 2006. That said, careful decisions had to be made on how much support to give the minority. Although the
ExplorOz website is optimised for 1024 x 768 or higher, David has worked hard to improve the look and feel for those still using the lower resolution. Font Size Changer –
This is a new tool that allows you to increase/decrease the font size of
text on ExplorOz. This tool is only visible on pages that have been converted to the new aspx format.
The up-arrow button as shown, can be pressed up to five times to increase the font
size, while the down-arrow button can be pressed up to four times to decrease the font size. Print Tool – By clicking the new Printer icon
you'll be able to print out the body text of the newly converted article pages and
the forum pages without printing the menu bar,
left and right hand columns. Please continue to use the feedback
form to help provide us with: ideas, improvements, and general likes and dislikes. All feedback is extremely important
to us and we are more than happy to read them.
