Hi ExplorOz Reader,

We hope you enjoy this week's edition of our newsletter with all the latest information about what's happening on the website, plus our special Christmas Gift Guide!

Road Conditions Reports

Did you know that that there are 884 roads/tracks listed in the ExplorOz Road Conditions Report? These reports are updated at least weekly, although changes in status, especially closures, are mostly actioned immediately.

A handy feature of the report is the Road Closed List that you can find lower down on the main page. The tab beside it (Status Map) allows you to view a map of Australia with all tracks colour-coded to show status (open, caution, closed).

Another feature is "Travellers Comments". Whilst official reports allow us to list a road by status (ie. open, caution, closed), you can help by providing anecdotal comments about actual driving conditions. Every road report has a section for you to view/add a comment. Traveller's comments are particularly useful so please remember to put these here, even if you already mention it in the Forum or in a Blog.

Travel Tips & Alerts

Queensland
The CREB Track track is closed until further notice due to the current wet conditions.

South Australia
The track known as “The Shortcut Track” that leaves the Strzelecki just south of the Strzelecki Crossing and joins with the Merty Merty/Bollards Lagoon/Cameron Corner Road on Merty Merty Station is closed to the public. It is only maintained for cattle transport purposes. For other travel routes in the area, see Trek Notes in the SA Deserts region.

New South Wales
The recent rain has been of considerable help for the fire fighting effort. Currently there are 8 parks affected by fire, 81 parks with closed areas, and 69 parks with fire bans. See Reserves in NSW for more.

Northern Territory
With the onset of the wet season, parks in the Darwin and Katherine regions are being seasonally closed until May 2014. Other parks will be closed for safety reasons at short notice. See NT Top End Treks for more.

Western Australia
With the expected onset of the wet season, parks in the north of the state will be closed for the season beginning on 1st December, 2013. See Kimberley Region Trek Notes and Pilbara Region Trek Notes.
