Information

Burke and Wills camped her 16-17/1/1861. Burke could see no way through the maintain range ahead. So he decided to have a rest day. The ground had plenty of Quartz which made Burke to offer 5 pounds to the 1st person to find gold. None did! The next day they attended to the waterbags that needed repairing, and also to give the camels a rest. He was very concerned as to how they were going to get over the mountains. Wills went on a lengthy reconnaissance trip to the north west to see if there was an easy way over the range. He could not and returned to camp.
