Camp Oven Chicken Cordon Bleu

  • 2 chicken breast fillets
  • 3 slices Swiss cheese
  • 3 slices ham
  • plain flour
  • salt and black pepper
  • parsley
  • teaspoon vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs


  • Step 1Pound the chicken breasts flat between 2 layers of cling wrap.
  • Step 2Mix the flour with the salt and pepper.
  • Step 3Mix the breadcrumbs with the parsley
  • Step 4Place 11/2 slices of Swiss cheese and 11/2 slice of ham on each chicken breast. Leaving some space at the edges.
  • Step 5Roll tightly and press down a bit.
  • Step 6Whisk the egg with a little water and place in a bowl.
  • Step 7Put the breadcrumb mixture in a different bowl.
  • Step 8Cover the chicken rolls all over in flour and dip into the egg mix.
  • Step 9Now roll them in the breadcrumb mix until they are very thickly coated.
  • Step 10Fry till the chicken in the bottom of the camp oven till golden brown all over. Then tip out most of the oil out of the oven.
  • Step 11Place some coals on the lid of oven and bake the chicken for about 20min. or till cooked.
