Description

Visit the side of the first hydroelectric power station in Australia and imagine the challenges faced to create this feet of construction and engineering completed in 1895 Duck Reach Power Station provided electricity to the city of Launceston for 40 years. The Duck Reach Power Station is now an interpretive Centre, the trek in from Cataract Gorge is a pleasant hike along the South Esk river, and then returning via Snake Gully.

Note: After the power station and on the Snake Gully side are a number of steps to climb out of the valley, nothing difficult just a number of steps up.
