An attractive daisy with large bright flowerheads. Sparsely woolly to almost smooth perennial to 70 cm high with several stems. Basal leaves to 20 cm long; leaves on stem narrow, spear shaped, to 5 cm long.
Inflorescence of one or a few widely spaced heads to 30 mm diam. Florets straw-coloured; ray florets 10–24 mm long.
Found in all eastern states, extending west into SA. In woodland and dry forest at lower altitudes and on mountain slopes above 5000ft.
Flowering start in September and ends in December.
Identification
The main flower colour is yellow. Different species are differentiated by the shape of the scales surrounding the infloresence.
Uses
The roots are edible and were utilised by Aboriginal people and early European settlers.
