Victorian Midlands (VIM)Region Specifics
Whirrakee Wattle (Acacia williamsonii) is virtually endemic to the Bendigo region in Victoria and grows in very few locations within and outside the district. Its largest population occurs north of Bendigo in the Whipstick, Wellsford and Kamarooka Forests surrounding Huntly. After extensive clearing in the past and due to continued urban and rural development, the Whirrakee Wattle is classified as rare in Victoria.
