A strongly growing vine that climbs over other shrubs and intertwines with other vines. Climbing is done by the twining leaf stalks. Leaves are compound, made up of 3 oval shaped leaflets. There are separate male and female plants - each bears 4-petalled flowers that are about 5cm across.
Flowering start in May and ends in September.
Identification
The main flower colour is white. The species name pubescens refers to the (very) fine hairs covering the plant.
Uses
Species of Clematis occur in many countries, and it is often grown commercially as an ornamental flower.
