Cave fall accident

Woman falls into cave at Lake Wells

Just saw this on news - footage looked xactly like it occurred at Empress Springs so checked online and found this story. I looked up Lake Wells but its not really the same spot. Anyone know more?

Hope she is ok

Yes, it's Empress Spring.

It was inevitable, however I do hope that this one mistake by one person does not lead to the Springs closure.

Looking for adventure.

There is the possibility that the Journo composing the story went looking for Empress Spring in Google Maps. As soon as I inserted 'Empress Spring' into the map search box, one of the suggestions Google displayed below the search box was "Empress Spring Lake Wells WA."

Makes you wonder how it happened?

Did the person slip from the chain ladder or did it break?

I was wondering about that as well. I note that the ladder was there in the rescue pictures. If you go back through the EO Places pictures, you can view a ladder in a picture posted by D & M in 2005 with a chain ladder in it. How old was it on the day they took that picture. My thoughts were initially that there could be some badly corroded links in the bottom section of the ladder.

When we went down it, my thoughts were what would happen if we were stuck down the bottom.

From what I have read, the aboriginals had a number of way down into the cave and there was even an old original aboriginal log ladder down there.

Childerbeasts were there in 2011, just missed him :)

I sent one final shout after him to stick to the track, to which he replied “All right,” That was the last ever seen of Gibson - E Giles 23 April 1874
