Travelling Nonning Road SA

Hi, just wondering if anyone has travelled Nonning Road from Wiralla to Iron Knob recently?
I am driving a Ranger towing a 15’ off road van and am thinking of possibly heading that way in a couple of weeks. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Typically pretty fair graded country roads through some great country, subject (as always) to the weather, the traffic and the last grader.
If it says it is "Open to all traffic" here, it will be fine for any vehicle.

Stop off at Hiltiba Station for a few days. Owned by the Nature Foundation. They have some great walks and camping. Campsite is in the middle distance, just on the edge of the granite outcrops.

"Hiltiba Station" If you attempt to search for that location, I suggest you type in - Hiltaba.

Even with the correct spelling, the forum does not add the link to it, even though you can find it in "Places." Is there anyone that can fix that?

The "auto link" feature in the FORUM is based on exact word match and it only does so when the Place has a photo. No photo, then no link. The reason for this is to avoid click-bait. It looks at all pages on the website too so sometimes the match will be to an article not to Places.

Is that the route of the old main road to Western Australia. I have heard that the official main route once ran north of the current route.

Don't think so.
I rode in the back of a truck that went most of the way across the Nullarbor in December 1954 and I reckon the road as far as at least Ceduna was close to where it is now.
But I might be wrong.

Cheers,
