I believe that a new thread asked about adhesives. And that I posted a response.
Now there is nothing!!!!!!!!
Did I just dream it? Or has the Phantom Moderator committed the thread to oblivion?

"Or has the Phantom Moderator committed the thread to oblivion?"
There are a lot of posters who open accounts to pedal their wares. When I saw that something had disappeared, I assumed it was someone muscling in to get some free advertising to promote their adhesives.
If you see something like that appear, just click on the "Moderator" button below the thread answers and report the unwanted posting. The mods are generally fairly swift in removing the post.

It was an Indian adhesives company spamming the site. It got deleted.

Allan,
My limited knowledge of dreams and their meanings makes me wonder if dreams about adhesives are because of your background and that you are a "stickler" for detail.
Alternatively it could be that you are just "stuck" up !!
Anyway it must have been a pleasant change to your dreams about batteries, volts and amps.
Oooops - its just occurred to me that today is Friday.

Hello, it was removed as it was established to be a very thinly disguised attempt at self promotion (a person asking about a product that they were obviously associated with in some way).
Cheers

Allan, you can hump away as much as you like. There have been periods where we have a flurry of this self-promotion appear on the
forum. It happens on all the forums. An easy to detect if they are just trying the self-promotion thing, in each case it is their only thread they have initiated or replied to. Some are quite blatant about their efforts, others are more subtle, as I suspect this one was. They only post here to push their own products. Most I have come across have been very late in the day or in the first few hours of the day. If you spot any of these, you should report them and then they are disposed of fairly quickly.
When they are not nobbled quickly, they will tend to proliferate and become a large part of the
forum.

Peter,
I certainly was not "humping"…..absolutely not. I would never hump on an open
forum. I was making an expression of "Humph", which is a slightly more polite way of expressing offence. Look it up an any dictionary.
My offence is that the post was removed, together with my Reply, without any message being left by the moderator. Not only inviting confusion but rather impolite in my opinion. So thank you for your permission for me to "Humph as much as I like." I will do so with pleasure.
And it does not "happen on all forums" and has not usually happened on EO in the past. A Moderator message has usually been left.
And I make it clear that I am not complaining about moderation. Heaven forbid that I would invoke the "Moderation Complaints Rule". I am politely humphing only about a lack of courtesy.
Your defensive elucidation of moderation procedure suggests that you have become our recent new Moderator…… Hmmmm?

Hello (@ Allan B)- just message us directly if you have a query - we will answer your questions ASAP. .... just like we did when you created this thread ...but without boring everyone. Mods (excluding D/M) are all volunteers so if we independently moderate a post on the fly, notifying everyone who commented would be an unrealistic expectation. If we were getting paid, I would consider it :)
Cheers

It would not be an "unrealistic expectation" to place a post saying "This post has been moderated due to the Self Promotion Rule" or whatever as is usually done.

"This post has been moderated due to the Self Promotion Rule".
We’ve done this in the past but it contributed to higher numbers of spam posts as the spammer gets an automated message and this just encourages more spam posts. Most are just hidden or deleted these days.
