WOOMERA PROHIBITED AREA ACCESS ZONES
The following information has been provided by the Department of Defence.
The
Woomera Prohibited Area (WPA) Exclusion Windows for the 2014/15 financial year are being amended; the Government introduced the Defence Legislation Amendment (
Woomera Prohibited Area) Bill 2014 in the Senate on 27 March 2014.
EXCLUSION PERIOD NOTIFICATION
As you may be aware, access to the
Woomera Prohibited Area (WPA) is subject to exclusion periods during which the Department of Defence may undertake testing of “war material”. For safety and security reasons, designated zones within the WPA will be closed and you may be required to evacuate the area during notified exclusion periods. The Anne Beadel is affected by these closures.
Defence have now published exclusion periods within the WPA Amber Zone for the financial year 1 July 2014 to 30 June 2015, together with updated advice for the remaining periods; previously notified to 30 June 2014. Also it should be noted that the Amber Two Zone (corridor) period previously advised for 19 May - 8 June 2014 will no longer be required for exclusive Defence use.
The exclusion periods and Amber Zone boundaries are detailed below courtesy of the Department of Defence.
A detailed map showing the WPA and access zone boundaries is shown as an attachment.
It is also available from the South Australian Resources Information Geoserver site at:
