Department of Defence has issued a further memo on the exclusion periods on 9th March, 2016. The exclusion period for non-Defence users for the
Woomera Prohibited Area Defence Periodic Use Amber Zone 2 which was to have been
activated between 29 February - 13 March 2016 has been cancelled.
The times below have now been amended accordingly.
Amber Zone 1 – South-Eastern Corner.
8 February—27 March 2016
9 May—12 June 2016
Amber Zone 2 – Corridor
Includes a section of the
Anne Beadell Highway.
16—29 May 2016
Green Zone
Notifications of restrictions in parts of the Green Zone will be made through this website and relevant travel information outlets with 21 days notice.
Who is affected?
The exclusion periods affect new non-Defence users of the WPA only.
Existing non-Defence users of the WPA, including the four operating mines, WPA pastoral lease holders and Aboriginal persons and traditional owners, will continue to operate under their current access arrangements, including evacuation from the WPA for Defence testing as required.
Defence will undertake regular monitoring to ensure there is no unauthorised access into the access zones during an exclusion period. For a map of the area use the following link.
