Doing the hard yards of remote desert travel - Video (Great Sandy Desert July 2010)

Here's a couple of minutes of video to give you an idea of just what it's like to punch your way across the remote western deserts of outback Australia. This was shot in the Great Sandy Desert in our efforts to push east from the Great Northern Highway towards the old, early 80's drill site known as McLarty 1. The video was shot by E/O member Gaby D and the quiet thumping you can here is the thrum of the Arctic Cat Diesel quad she's sitting on. Her hubby Scott is driving the great white land whale (ex Britz Hi-top camper) and I'm right on his ginger in the new Tojo ute. It's good to remember that this is just the bump and grind for 2 minutes. Now times it by 800 kilometres, add a lot of very big sand dunes, the odd rocky patch and some of the thickest scrub you could imagine and you'll be getting an idea of just what sort of crazies we are to be spending our holidays doing this! We love it so much.

For Google Earth fans I reckon we're about here. 19°21'37.32"S, 123° 5'14.76"E
