Main Flower Colour: Orange

Description

A small tree or shrub 2 to 7 mts tall, grows throughout inland Australia (not found in Victoria). Rush like leaves are 10 to 30 cms long Flowers are bright orange and yellow and produced most of the year, most prolific July to November.

Flowering start in July and ends in November.

Identification

The main flower colour is orange.

Uses

Due to the large amount of nectar produced by the flowers, Aborigines suck the flower spikes on the branch as a sweet treat or soak the flowers in water to make a mildly intoxicating drink. Ants and birds find it attractive as well.
