Word is police in
Karumba have been booking people towing boat trailers on public roads, even for a short distance, without working lights. It is about 300 metres from the caravan
park to the ramp in town, and about 100 metres from the
boat ramp to the trailer
park. Be aware.

Expensive way to fish for being too lazy to hook the lights up. Just checked the fine starts at $343 a set of submersible trailer lights is cheaper.

Not a new thing. The portable boats that travellers have will have portable clip on light bars. No excuse not to use them.
When I was living in the dongas at the Wanderer's Caravan
park at
Lucinda while building a project up there in the 90's when the old van boys where whinging that they got done by the local bobby for the same thing on the way to the Dungeness ramp.

See them doing it all the time. Leave the van
park or cabins with no trailer lights. Not very smart thing to do regardless of the distance. Many of the small portable/collapsible trailers are unregistered as
well. Only themselves to blame.

Just posting an update from
Karumba….
They have posters around and in the
toilets and showers in the caravan
park advising about this and for those that get caught….they only have themselves to blame and no excuses there is ample warnings around the town at both
Karumba and
Karumba Point.

My ‘Little Bulldog’ folding boat trailer has waterproof lights permanently fixed to it so no issue for me. It is astounding the arrogant defiance of some. After all it is a big expedition to get there with all the gear, may as
well get it right before leaving home.

Well I call nanny state. Enforce a law if it genuinely endangers life or property, otherwise forget it,.

I'd like to know how not having tail lights is safe and justified wether or not the tow vehicle's lights are obstructed by the item being towed or not. It's just boils down to laziness picking and choosing what laws are inconvenient at the time.
