It has been sealed the whole way to the
SA border for years. There was some of the SA end sealed when I travelled it some years back. I believe the last bit has been completed since then. When I travelled it, I slowed right down and took the trip steadily at low speed over the gravel and there were no problems. I even took the van into
the Dig Tree, travelling over the rough bits at a little faster than walking speed.

Sorry, I got my knickers in a knot and described the wrong road.
The satellite view in Google Maps is reasonably up to date (the date of the view is under the view.) If you zoom in on the road you can see if there is a bitumen surface or whether it's a gravel road.

Hi George,
Whilst the road between
Tibooburra and the
Warri Gate at the Queensland border is sealed, from the
Warri Gate to Noccundra is not. It is gravel, and like all outback gravel roads, it can be quite corrugated.

Noccundra to
Warri Gate is currently being upgraded to a sealed road. Works are still occurring so be mindful of equipment movements along that section.
There is also a new
gas pipeline about to be installed in that region so there will be additional oversized vehicle movements with Pipes being dropped off to laydown pads.

Thankd to everyone for your advise. It looks like I will be going the long way to
Cairns. I p[rfer to stay on sealed roads with a 22 foot caravan. I will safe a loy of cleaning road dust when I get back home.

Yes, last week we did towing van, probably better than most roads. Just need to take it easy on the
creek crossing. Be aware that there are road works Noccundra end of dirt (use Channel 40) to contact the drivers, plus there touching up a couple of sections further south. Stay at the
waterhole on the
Wilson River opposite the Noccundra pub, great fishing for yellow belly. We are planning to go back for a week or so. We did tell
Packsaddle RH that the road was open.

Hi Wesley R1,
With respect, and with no offence intended, the question asked was if the road is sealed all the way between
Tibooburra and Noccundra, which it is not. The section between
Warri Gate and Noccundra is still gravel. It may be open, but it is not all sealed.
