Kallara Station to Trilby Station

N/A

This morning we travelled from Kallara Station to Trilby Station continuing along the western side of the Darling River.
The road remained good and apart from the usual problems at some of the cattle grids, a steady speed could be maintained. Back to 3rd gear and down to 15km/h on the grids just in case. We weren’t in a hurry so sat on about 70 km/h, although you could go faster if you were inclined. One answer that alludes us is what is the difference between a ”causeway”, “floodway” and “dip” as they all appeared to be the same but some had one name and the others the other ones. All were dips in the road and showed signs of water flowing across them at some stage.
On this trip we remembered to open the pressure vent in the roof and even though the dust was about the same outside. it seemed effective in keeping it out of the van. The only other vehicle we saw on the trip, was another traveller heading out of Trilby’s driveway as we came in, so no traffic a all.
Idalia Station has closed camping temporally due to a fire in one of their buildings that has affected the power to the camping area and showers. So we bypassed them for this trip.
The welcome at Trilby was friendly with questions about what we wanted and advice about the best spots available. We chose bush camping this time and found a great spot, once again on the river and plenty of shady trees. We can drive back to the main camping area if we need to, for shower etc. but as we have plenty of water still aboard, we used the outside shower on the van tonight. We can also drive back to use the swimming pool and may do that tomorrow,
