Today we caught up on washing, ironing, grocery shopping etc as we head to Kakadu in a couple of days.

This afternoon we drove to Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve, one of the few wetland systems that is accessible year-round. Boardwalks take you through the different landscapes to observation platforms to view the large number of resident wading birds. We walked paths that moved from shady forests of paperbark into the floodplain area. At the Pandanus Lookout you could see the Adelaide River catchment one of several connected catchments that make up the Top End wetlands.Fogg Dam is home to over 230 bird species. You'll frequently spot magpie geese, brolgas, egrets, and jabirus.

Fogg Dam has one of the world's highest biomass of predator (water pythons) (850kg/km) to prey (dusky rats) (8 tonne/km) ratio. They make their homes in the cracked mud during the hot Dry Season from August to October, while waiting for the rains.
