This prostrate, mat forming pea plant was growing on the road shoulder in gravel. The leafless stems are flattened to function as leaves. The species name (aphyllum) means "without leaves". The bright red pea flowers have enlarged keel petals, giving the flower a flattened appearance.
Flowering start in July.
