Delay of report on our trip north due to lack of data reception except for a few areas like Bamaga .The trip was fantastic with a great time had by all on varying terrain with great scenery and some challenging tracks .
No major dramas on route with Jason drowning the big 570 Hussaberg in nearly the first creek ,myself trying to move a tree in reverse at Punsand and nearly in a washout on the return near Palm Creek ( OTL ) . old XR600 (KTM 530 sub) nearly made it home with the old war horse expiring 270 ks north of Cairns (just out of Palmer River ) on the second last day .Lenny to the rescue in the Toyota Hiace recovery van and we made it home via Black Mountain Kuranda and the Tablelands .
A few bitches like the price of getting across the Jardine with 1 cruiser and 5 bikes dearer than what i paid for a solo cabin and the Tojo across Bass strait .Not bad for a 100 metres .
The amount of rubbish around the car park near the start of the walk to to the Top was appalling as was the attitude of some drivers in the dusty conditions as they approach oncoming vehicles .Nearly everyone are on holidays but they drive like their in a race .If everyone slows a little on approach their is less dust and more visibility as they pass each other .
Highlight was the Punsand tourist park (under new control ) with their friendliness willing to help (had to weld a leaking cracked rim ) Great Food and fair Prices .Thoroughly recommend the place .Pretty good view out of your tent when you wake in the morning looking north as well .

After having a 2nd hand aircon punp from NQ Crash & 4Wd spares fitted and gassed by Jeff Walter at Cairns Car Air conditioning i headed towards Airlie Beach overnighting at the Rollingstone free park .A pleasant drive calling in to Mourilyan Harbour ,Tully , Mission Beach and Bowen on the way .Plenty of roadworks but the delays dont take to long and allow for map checking and micro snoozes before putting the right foot down.
