Upright shrub up to 2m, with glossy leaves. Flowers have a spotted throat and are attractive to birds. Flower colour may vary considerably through shades of red, mauve and yellow. Grows in drier inland areas.
The species name, maculata, means spotted.
Flowering start in August.

May cause seasonal cyanide poisoning of stock.
