Dense shrub to 2m. tall, much branched. Leaves oval, widest at the end away from the stem. Large dusky red pea flowers (3cm long) in which the standard petal is reflexed (bent backwards).

This unusual shrub appears as a tuft of elongated rounded (terete) leaves about 30cm high with flowerheads and old seed capsules nestled at ground level, in among the leaf bases.

One-sided Bottlebrush

This Calothamnus looks to be a very tough woody shrub growing to about 2m high. Thick flattened leaves with conspicuous ribbing, and ending in a sharp point. The bright red flowers are about 4cm long.

Drumsticks

Straggly open shrub with large serrated, prickly leaves. Large flower heads about 7cm across.

Dragon Orchid

A small terrestrial orchid, growing to about 25cm high. Petals and sepals are green with a maroon stripe. Labellum covered with maroon hairs.

Island Point Spider Orchid

Coastal spider orchid

Photo by Graeme W. One of the rarer orchids . This is the coastal spider orchid, Caladenia abbreviata. It flowers in November and is found in isolated pockets near Augusta.

Sun Orchid hybrid

A sun orchid hybrid that was found south of Mullewa amongst some granite pockets. It is a cross between the T antennifera and T petrophila .
